Indian opener injured before World Cup 2023

Can’t play cricket for 3 weeks, fractured toe

Bangalore. There is no good news for Team Indian opener ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup in India. The batsman who made his claim in this mega tournament will have to stay away from the cricket field for the next one month. . India opener Devdutt Padikal confirmed on Thursday that he will be out of action for three to four weeks with a fractured thumb.

Virat Kohli’s team will be under the supervision of opener Doctors who has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in India’s T20 tournament Indian Premier League. Padikal, who will play two T20 Internationals for India in 2021, suffered the injury while playing in the Deodhar Trophy earlier this month. Due to injury, Padikkal is also not playing in the ongoing Maharaja KSCA T20 tournament here. He was selected by the Gulbarga Mystics team.

“I fractured my left thumb during the Deodhar Trophy,” Padikal admitted to “Fancode”. I therefore had to get a quick surgery to fix it. I will probably be out of action for three to four more weeks. I hope to be back on the field soon. I will come.”

Shubman Gill has confirmed his place alongside captain Rohit Sharma to play as the opener for the Indian team in the World Cup. He has been in good form and returned after scoring runs on the last West Indies tour. Although Devdutt’s claim is very weak, he still needs to keep himself fit to score runs in domestic cricket. Indian team is worried because of injured players. Middle order batsman Shreyas Iyer’s fitness is still difficult. All eyes are on wicketkeeper KL Rahul’s return to fitness.
