Ex-ISRO scientist praises PM Modi for Chandrayaan-3, claiming that the “previous government did not allocate funds”; Congress replies.

‘The previous Congress-led administration had little trust in the Indian Space Research Organization and had no financial allocation for the moon trip,’ says the report. Remarked Nambi Narayanan, a former ISRO scientist, in a video that went popular on social media networks.

In an interview with The New Indian, Narayanan also reacted to the battle of words between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress over PM Modi’s announcement to name the touchdown spot on the lunar surface as ‘Shiv Shakti’. The grand old party even accused Prime Minister Modi of’stealing credit’ for the Chandrayaan-3 project.

What said Nambi Narayanan about ISRO and PM Modi?

“It’s your fault if you don’t like the PM. However, it is the Prime Minister. Who else will be given credit for it? The previous Congress administration did not provide us with adequate funding. “They had no faith in ISRO,” stated a former Indian space agency scientist.

This happened after the Congress attacked individuals who were “unable to digest Jawaharlal Nehru’s contribution” to the establishment of ISRO. Claiming that India’s first prime minister used to advocate the scientific approach.

The grand old party and the BJP have been at odds over Nehru and previous Congress prime ministers’ contributions to India’s space program. The opposition party emphasizing its leaders’ work and the ruling party claiming that significant progress has been achieved in this domain since 2014.

“Nehru used to promote scientific approach,” Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X on Sunday. Those who find it difficult to understand his contribution to the establishment of ISRO can listen to his address on the founding day of TIFR (Tata Institute of Fundamental Research).”

“Unlike the person who gave knowledge about the science of clouds providing a shield from radar. He (Nehru) did not just talk big but also took big decisions,” Ramesh added, referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to PTI, following the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon. The Congress stated that it is a collaborative success of every Indian. ISRO’s achievement symbolizes a story of continuity and is genuinely magnificent.

According to the party, India’s space voyage began in 1962 with the founding of INCOSPAR. Which was the product of Homi Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai’s foresight. As well as passionate backing from the country’s first prime minister, Nehru.

Sarabhai later founded the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in August 1969.
