Teacher’s Day was organize for the first time in 1962. At this time Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan assumed the post of Vice President of India. Overwhelmed by his achievement, his students approached him with a request to celebrate his birthday i.e. 5th September as a special day. Seeing this, he talked about creating Teacher’s Day not only for himself but in honor of all the teachers of the country. Since then, Teachers’ Day is celebrate on this day every year.
