The much awaited iPhone 15 series unveiled by Apple Inc. on Tuesday at its yearly event, “Wonderlust.”

What is NavIC?

In order to meet the needs of the country in terms of location, navigation, and timing. ISRO built a regional navigation satellite system called Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC). Formerly known as the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS). It started to lessen reliance on global satellite navigation systems run by other countries.

NavIC, a project that ISRO independently developed, initially approved in 2006 with a budget of $174 million (1,426 crore), with a completion date anticipated for late 2011. It started to function in 2018.

The Standard Position Service (SPS) for civilian users and the Restricted Service (RS) for strategic users the two services offered by NavIC. Both the L5 (1176.45 MHz) and S bands (2498.028 MHz) offer these services.

NavIC’s coverage region covers all of India and stretches outward up to 1500 km. Transmissions from various global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), such as GPS, Glonass, Galileo, and BeiDou, are compatible with NavIC SPS transmissions.

Terrestrial, aerial, and maritime transportation, location-based services, personal mobility, resource monitoring, surveying, scientific research, time dissemination, synchronization. The distribution of safety-of-life warnings are all uses of the NavIC.
