Vicky Kaushal who played the titular role in Sardar Udham, recently shared his thoughts on not winning the Best Actor award at the 69th National Awards. The trophy went to Allu Arjun for his performance in Pushpa: The Rise.
Following filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s strong endorsement of Vicky Kaushal for the National Film Award for Best Actor, the actor himself has shared his thoughts on the matter. While their collaborative project, Sardar Udham, earned five prestigious honors, including Best Hindi Film, at the 69th National Awards, Vicky Kaushal, who portrayed the titular character of Udham Singh, was not awarded the Best Actor trophy, which went to Allu Arjun, the lead actor of Pushpa: The Rise.
In a conversation with India Today, Vicky opened up about the film and its significance to him. When asked if he was disappointed about not winning the National Award, Vicky responded, “Nahi! The thing is that many times, when you get a film, and get to work with a director that you like, you think that’s where your dream has come true, which is genuinely true for Sadar Udham. I am not just saying for the heck of it. Being a Punjabi, that topic, that man, that story is very, very close to my heart.”
Vicky further shared that he harbors no regrets about not receiving the Nationa Award. “We have been listening to this story since our childhood days and always used to wonder why not many people know about this. So, for me, to eventually get the opportunity was a big deal and, after that, what I got or didn’t get, everything was a bonus.
