Google was sued when their Maps caused a vehicle to die on a bridge that had fallen.

The family of a man who tragically perished after driving off a bridge while using Google Maps has launched a lawsuit against the tech corporation, accusing it of carelessness. They assert that despite being aware of the bridge’s five-year flood damage, Google did not upgrade its guidance system.

Philip Paxson, a father of two and a medical equipment salesman, sadly perished in the water in September of last year after his Jeep Gladiator slid into Snow Creek in Hickory, North Carolina, according to a complaint filed on Tuesday.

He was coming home after his daughter’s ninth birthday party when, according to the complaint, Google Maps allegedly told him to cross the fallen bridge as he was travelling through an unknown region.

As an adult, I still find it difficult to comprehend how people in charge of the GPS instructions and the bridge could have done with so little regard for human life, according to his wife, Alicia Paxson. “Our girls ask how and why their daddy died, and I’m at a loss for words they can understand,” she added.

There were no signs or barricades along the damaged road, according to police who found Paxton’s corpse inside his truck that had rolled over and partially submerged.

According to the lawsuit, he went off an unsecured cliff, which led to a crash around 20 feet down.

The bridge was not under the control of municipal or state authorities for upkeep, and the original developer’s company had gone out of business, according to the North Carolina State Patrol.
