British PM Rishi Sunak Vows to Eradicate Anti-Semitism in Society

After police made many arrests, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak criticized some acts during pro-Palestinian marches as “simply not acceptable.” “Anti-Semitism has no place in our society, and we will use whatever means at our disposal to eradicate it. During a visit to a Jewish school in London, Rishi Sunak stated, “And where it happens, it will be met with the full force of the law.”

At the pro-Palestinian demonstration on Saturday in downtown London, the police reported that 15 persons had detained. Following that, three men—including a 68-year-old man accused of uttering racial remarks—charged with offenses.

“They’ve made several arrests, but they’re also now reviewing footage of some of the things that many people would have seen that are just simply not acceptable, and where they can they will be able to make further arrests,” Rishi Sunak said after tens of thousands of people demonstrated in support of Palestinians in London and other UK cities, a week after Hamas launched the deadliest ever attack on Israel.

Israel declared war on Gaza the next day after Hamas killed more than 1,400 people and kidnapped scores more, sparking an endless bombing campaign that has killed at least 2,750 people. Since the Hamas attack, anti-Semitic crimes and occurrences have increased in Britain, according to the UK government and police. Rishi Sunak said that he had promised the Jewish community in Britain that he would do “everything in our power to keep them safe” and warned that endorsing Hamas, a terrorist group that outlawed in the UK, might lead to significant prison terms.
