Israel-Hamas Conflict Enters Second Month as Ceasefire Negotiations Stall

Following the unexpected terror attacks by Hamas on October 7, negotiations to reach a temporary ceasefire in Gaza that would enable more aid to alleviate the worsening conditions for the 2.3 million Palestinians trapped there led to the start of the war between Israel and Hamas militants, which entered its second month on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Israeli Defense Force (IDF) fighter planes used artillery and the “Iron Sting” guided mortar munition to strike Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in Lebanon.

In an attempt to broker the release of hostages held by the terrorist organization, President Joe Biden pressured Israel for a multi-day ceasefire in the conflict. In response, Israel agreed to implement daily humanitarian pauses of four hours in its assaults against Hamas, according to the White House.

More than 1,400 Israelis have lost their lives, most of them in the terror assaults that started the conflict last month. According to Hamas-affiliated media, which cited Gaza health officials, an Israeli attack on a road used by displaced Palestinians moving south in the enclave resulted in the deaths of at least three Palestinians.

The chairman of UNRWA, the United Nations organization aiding Palestinian refugees, Philippe Lazzarini, announced on Friday that over 100 of his employees have died in the Gaza conflict. “Destroyed. In little than a month, almost 100 UNRWA coworkers proven dead. On X, the previous Twitter platform, he said, “Parents, teachers, nurses, doctors, and support staff.”
