Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, stole the show during his team’s final World Cup 2023 cricket match on Saturday. Captain Jos Buttler of Pakistan chose to bat first after winning the toss in their match against England. Ben Stokes was removed by Shaheen Afridi with the opening delivery of the 41st over of the England innings. Babar seemed to try to push Mohammad Rizwan’s hands down as the wicketkeeper was trying to celebrate the wicket with his colleagues, as the Pakistan players gathered to praise the bowler.
- One viewer commented on the video, asking, “Was he really unhappy?”
- Another user said, “Very bad temperament…acting like gully cricket captain.”
- “Collusion against Babar Azam” was another statement that was made.
With a commanding 93-run victory against Pakistan, England sent their squad sailing out of the World Cup on a high note on Saturday in Kolkata, capping a dismal championship defence led by Ben Stokes and David Willey. Joe Root smashed 60 and Ben Stokes scored 84 to lead England to a commanding 337-9 in their 50 overs before Pakistan collapsed with 244 in 43.3 overs. Stokes had announced his retirement from ODI cricket before of the World Cup. Putting up a strong performance is enjoyable. I think it really hits home for you now. After his team was eliminated from the tournament, England captain Jos Buttler observed, “There’s a lot to think about.”
After removing Pakistan’s openers Abdullah Shafique (nought) and Fakhar Zaman (one), Willey—who has already declared his retirement from international cricket following the World Cup—removed Agha Salman for 51 to conclude with 3-56. In his 73rd ODI, Willey also reached 100 wickets with Salman’s wicket.
