PM Modi Celebrates Diwali with Soldiers in Himachal Pradesh

To celebrate Diwali with troops, Prime Minister Narendra Modi traveled to Lepcha, Himachal Pradesh, early on Sunday morning. “Arrived at Lepcha, Himachal Pradesh, to celebrate Diwali alongside our courageous security forces.”

The PM also released pictures of himself posing with security guards and wearing military garb. He expressed his delight and strong emotions in another post he wrote: “It has been an honor to celebrate Diwali in Lepcha, Himachal Pradesh, alongside our courageous security men. These defenders of our country, away from their families, brighten our lives with their commitment.

Since taking office in 2014, Prime Minister Modi has been celebrating Diwali by going to military installations. He engages with the military men and participates in the holiday celebrations during his visits. He would be spending his ninth Diwali with the military this year.

In Siachen, the PM and security personnel commemorated the holiday in 2014. He paid respects to the Indian Army’s victories in the 1965 war by touring three memorials in Punjab the following year. He met with personnel in uniform from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, the Dogra Scouts, and the army at Sumdoh in 2016 when on a visit to Himachal Pradesh, close to the Chinese border. The Prime Minister visited the Gurez region in North Kashmir in 2017, spent Diwali in Uttarakhand’s Harsil where he surprised the military, visited the soldiers in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, in 2019, and was at the Longewala border station in 2020.

He attended the Nowshera celebration in Jammu and Kashmir in 2021. Modi spent Diwali with the soldiers in Kargil last year. In the meantime, Prime Minister Modi wished everyone a happy Diwali earlier in the day.
