Lockie Ferguson Credits New Zealand’s Composure to Consistent Process in ODI World Cups

Amazingly consistent in ODI World Cups is New Zealand. They will compete in their sixth consecutive semifinal on Wednesday. They have improved their ability to maintain composure after losing the last four games in both 2007 and 2011, going on to win the previous two titles.

Lockie Ferguson, a fast bowler from New Zealand who claimed three significant wickets in the team’s 2019 final defeat to England, attributed New Zealand’s ability to remain composed under pressure. We kind of cling to our procedures; I know it sounds corny, but it keeps us somewhat grounded. Additionally, Kiwis by nature want to stay put, which I believe is a good thing. However, we do look forward to major competitions,” Ferguson, who holds the record for most wickets in a World Cup with 31 in 15 games, added.

India was the team that New Zealand lost to the most in the 2019 semifinals. Although the team captained by Virat Kohli was in form and had won the round robin, the Kiwis defeated them in the knockout stages. Ferguson stated, “Yeah, it was a pretty spectacular game… very pleasing for us but four years have gone past,” after taking 1/43 in his ten overs. New Zealand gave undefeated India the hardest battle in this World Cup as well. They scored 273 at Dharamsala, making the Indian batsmen work hard in the chase. After Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were dismissed by Ferguson, Kohli led the home team to victory by four wickets. It a fiercely contested game. Of course, there are a lot of ups and downs while playing one-day cricket versus India. Come this game, nothing will change in that regard.
