Delhi Chief Secretary Faces Corruption Allegations, Kejriwal Sends Report to LG

According to official sources, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena received a report from Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday morning that purportedly provided “prima facie” evidence of corruption by Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, the highest-ranking civil officer employed by the Delhi government.
The report, which suggests Mr. Kumar fired from his position and barred from posting for a while while an investigation conducted, has also forwarded to the CBI and Enforcement Directorate by Mr. Kejriwal.

Last Monday, Mr. Kumar charged with using his influence to ensure that a firm connected to his son would benefit ₹ 313 crore by rigging a land acquisition deal with the National Highways Authority. The office of the Chief Minister has requested that his Vigilance Minister, Atishi, provide a thorough report on these accusations.

The 670-page report turned in on Tuesday and sent this morning to the investigating authorities that answer to the BJP-led central government as well as Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena of Delhi. According to the report, the parties may have received a windfall gain of ₹ 897 crore from the purchase. Additionally, the study suggests that Divisional Commissioner Ashwani Kumar relieved of his duties. Thus far, the Chief Secretary has not responded; nevertheless, this week, the Divisional Commissioner publicly endorsed the former. Naresh Kumar described the claims on Friday as an effort at “mudslinging” by “disgruntled elements” who also accused of corruption.

A lawyer, whose name has withheld, filed a complaint to Mr. Kejriwal’s office last week over the sale of a 19-acre tract of property in the southwest of Delhi. The NHAI purchased the site in 2018 in order to build the Dwarka Expressway.
