There is still a lot left to do in front of the cinema hall..’, why did Chhori 2’s Dasi Maa say while referring to Saif – we are lucky?

Every artist decides his/her dream role. While everyone wishes to play the lead role, Soha Ali Khan wanted to do something different. Actress Soha Ali Khan made her debut in Hindi cinema with the film ‘Dil Maange More’ almost two decades ago.

After that she did many films in romance, comedy and thriller genre, but she never got the opportunity to play a negative role. She got this opportunity in the role of Dasi Maa in the recently released film ‘Chhori 2’. I had a fear about the film, then I controlled it. Then I went ahead and said yes to this film in a single day. I knew that this is a very special opportunity to prove myself as an artist. As an artist, we want people to pay attention to our performance, praise us.

I don’t know why, but no one asked me for a negative role before this. I would just say that the opportunity came late but it came right. There is a lot of creative freedom and opportunity for experimentation in negative roles. When we have to play good roles of hero or heroine, there are some limitations, but this does not happen in negative roles.

On the current trend of female-oriented films being made in Hindi cinema as compared to male-oriented films, Soha Ali Khan says that there has been a change. 10 years ago, I probably would not have seen myself playing such a good role at this age of crossing 40.
