Virat Kohli not playing T20
The World Cup is less than two months away and Rohit Sharma’s Team India is still experimenting with team combinations. Seniors like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli did not even play in ODIs during the West Indies tour. In his place, young players and backup players are constantly being tried out for the Asia Cup as well as the World Cup. Virat Kohli has not played a single match in the entire ODI series. Rohit Sharma also played in the first ODI. Rohit has returned to Mumbai. When he was asked at an event about resting Virat Kohli in T20Is, the hitman gave a resounding reply.

When asked about Virat and his absence from an event related to La Liga, Rohit Sharma said, “We did the same thing last year because the T20 World Cup was going to be held then, so we (Virat-Rohit) didn’t play ODI cricket.” This year also we are doing the same as the ODI World Cup is coming up. That is why we are not playing in T20. We cannot prepare for the World Cup by playing every series. We took this decision two years ago.
Jadeja can’t even play T20: Rohit
Regarding Kohli not playing in the T20 series against West Indies, Rohit said, “This is the year of the World Cup. We want to keep every player fresh. Team India is already struggling with injuries. Now I fear injuries. Ravindra Jadeja is also not playing T20 but why didn’t you ask about that? I understand the focus on me and Virat. But Jadeja is not playing either.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have not played a T20 for India since last year’s World Cup semi-final against England in Australia. This time the World Cup is being played in India and Team India wants to end the ICC trophy drought.
