Sun mission Aditya-L1 of ISRO snaps a selfie and takes pictures of the Earth and Moon.

Aditya-L1, India’s innovative spacecraft project, has reached a significant milestone by acquiring and transmitting breath-inspiring pictures of the Earth and the Moon. These breathtaking images were captured as Aditya-L1 and ISRO shard it and embarked on its journey to the Lagrangian point (L1), situated 1.5 million kilometers from Earth, marking the mission’s ultimate goal.

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) proudly shared these photographs on its official Twitter account. Providing the public with a glimpse of this incredible adventure. Notably, among these arresting images. Aditya-L1 even managed to capture a unique selfie, adding a thrilling and distinctive finishing touch to this remarkable mission.

As Aditya-L1 made its way toward the Sun-Earth L1 point, it captured a selfie and images of the Earth and Moon. As reported by the national space agency, headquartered in Bengaluru.

The images showcase the instruments VELC (Visible Emission Line Coronagraph) and SUIT (Solar Ultraviolet Imager). As observed by the Aditya-L1 camera on September 4, 2023.

On September 2, the mission departed from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.

Before entering the transfer orbit near the Lagrange point L1. The spacecraft will perform two additional earthbound orbital maneuvers. It is anticipated that after 125 days, Aditya-L1 will reach its planned orbit at the L1 point.

The mission’s key objectives include the study of the physics of the solar corona and its heating mechanism. The acceleration of the solar wind, the coupling and dynamics of the solar atmosphere. The distribution and temperature anisotropy of the solar wind, and the origin of CMEs, flares, and near-Earth space weather.

With the assistance of the solar probe, ISRO is achieving its second milestone in less than a month. This comes after surpassing rival nations in late August to reach the lunar south pole.

Additionally, India’s human spaceflight program aims to put people into orbit for the first time by 2025, as confirmed by ISRO Chairman S Somanath.
