In two consecutive rallies in Madhya Pradesh ahead of the polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi intensified his criticism of the Congress on Tuesday. He also voiced his confidence that the BJP will retain power for a second consecutive term because of the people’s “love and trust.” In addition to announcing the Center’s proposed ₹24,000 crore welfare package for the nation’s tribal population, he restated his pledges to the people.
The Prime Minister attacked the Congress at Betul, claiming that although the party is looking to seers to turn things around ahead of the assembly elections, “Congress knows that its fake promises won’t work in front of Modi’s guarantees.” In addition, he criticised the establishment of the Ram temple, the repeal of the Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, and the law against triple talaq, claiming that the Congress never thought these measures would become law.
PM Modi praised India’s recent accomplishments and questioned the Congress, asking them what “foreign glasses” they were wearing that prevented them from seeing the nation’s progress.
“The people of India have ‘Made in China’ mobile phones…moorkhon ka sardar (king of fools)…in which world are the living,” said a ‘mahagyani’ (very informed) Congress politician yesterday. He continued, saying that the Congress is flying blind because they are ill and do not understand the facts on the ground. “They have the disease of not seeing their country’s achievements,” he stated.
The prime minister stated at Shajapur that it is “disturbing the sleep of a lot of people,” but he expressed faith in the “love and trust” of people. They appear to be really depressed. “Observe their TV interviews and pay attention to what they have to say—what have you made of Congress?” he stated.
