Bishan Singh Bedi passes away: Currently the Mahakumbh World Cup of Cricket is going on, meanwhile there is a bad news for the cricket lovers today, the great spinner and former Indian team captain Bishan Singh Bedi bid farewell to the world today, he was 77 years old. He was battling an illness for a long time, his death was announced by Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condoled Bedi’s demise.
Was a strong part of India’s famous spinner quartet
Bishan Singh Bedi played 77 international matches for India in which he took 273 wickets. Bedi is regarded as one of the greatest spinners in Indian Test history. He won many matches for the country on his own. Bedi played Test cricket for India from 1966 to 1979. He was a strong part of India’s famous spin quartet of Erapalli Prasanna, Srinivas Venkataraghavan and Bhagwat Chandrasekhar. The four together played 231 Tests and took 853 wickets.

The best performance was against Australia
Bedi also achieved the feat of taking 7 wickets in an innings, taking 7 wickets for 98 runs in an innings against Australia in the Kolkata Test in 1969–70. This was his best performance in an innings. Bedi sent the entire team to the pavilion with a 194 against Australia in Perth in 1977-78, taking all 10 wickets.
