Karisma Kapoor belongs to an illustrious film family that includes the likes of Prithviraj Kapoor, Shashi Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, and her grandfather Raj Kapoor. In a recent interview with an entertainment portal, director Dharmesh Darshan shared an anecdote involving Karisma Kapoor and her insights into her grandfather Raj Kapoor’s behavior towards women.
Dharmesh reminisced about a particular scene during the filming of the song Tere Ishq Mein Naachenge from his 1996 romantic blockbuster Raja Hindustani, starring Karisma and Aamir Khan. In this scene, Aamir’s inebriated character was originally meant to pull Karisma’s hair. However, Aamir suggested an alternative of pulling her by the arm, feeling that the original idea might cross a boundary.
It was Karisma who insisted that Aamir pull her by her hair. “She took me to a corner. She requested we do it. She said, ‘I’ve seen my grandfather do it sometimes. Forget his films. In real life.’ When she told me that, I went to Aamir and said, ‘No one takes this, one takes that. Just straight up pull her hair,” Dharmesh said in the interview. He said that while Aamir thinks from his head, she thinks from her heart.
Dharmesh said in the same interview that Karisma was totally game with her much-discussed, long kissing scene with Aamir in the film. She just asked the director to narrate it to her mother and former actor Babita, who was even welcomed to see the three-day shoot of that sequence. Karisma insisted that they go ahead with the scene as planned. Darshan recalled that the actress took him aside and said that she wanted to do the scene.
