In the world of cricket, five players have retired in the last five days. Out of which one India and three players were part of the England team.

There has been a lot of action in the cricket world in the year 2023 and a lot of action is going to happen in the second half. It also includes major tournaments like Asia Cup and ODI World Cup. But before that, there has been a stir in the cricket world in the last five days. From 31 July 2023 to 4 August 2023, five players in the world have announced their retirement. The special thing is that three of the big players are from England. These three players have won the World Cup for the English team.

Who are those 5 players?

The series began with the fifth Test of Ashes 2023 where Stuart Broad and Moeen Ali announced their retirement on 31 July. However, Moeen will continue to play white-ball cricket, but Broad has said goodbye to international cricket for now. Broad has taken 604 Test wickets, 178 ODI wickets and 65 T20 International wickets for England.

On the other hand, Moeen Ali had already retired from Test cricket for England but returned in the Ashes but soon after said goodbye to red ball cricket again. Moeen played 68 Test matches for the English team and scored 3094 runs. Along with this, he also took 204 wickets in his name. The retirement of these two players signaled the end of an era for England Test cricket.

This Indian player also retired

West Bengal Sports Minister Manoj Tiwary, who played 12 ODIs and three T20 matches for India, bid farewell to international cricket on 3 August. Manoj Tiwary made his international debut in 2008 and has been out of the team since 2015. His best innings in ODI cricket came against West Indies in Chennai in 2011, where he scored 104 not out. Apart from this, he scored 9908 runs at an average of 48.56 in 141 first-class matches, including 29 centuries and 45 fifties. And his best score was an unbeaten 303 runs.

Tiwary led the Bengal team to the final of the 2022–23 Ranji Trophy. Where the team was runners up after losing to Saurashtra. Tiwary has scored 5581 runs in 169 List A matches and 3436 runs in 183 T20 matches. He was also part of the KKR team that won the IPL 2012 title.

The world champion player shocked everyone

Ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023, another world champion player from England retired on August 4 and surprised everyone. Recently, Alex Hales, who was a wonder opener for England in the T20 World Cup 2022, shocked everyone by retiring. Hales was instrumental in India’s 10-wicket win in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.

He participated in all three forms of cricket for England. After making his T20 International debut for England in 2011, Hales scored 573 runs in 11 Tests, 2419 runs in 70 ODIs and 2074 runs in 75 T20Is for England. He also scored a total of 7 centuries in all three formats.

This player’s big announcement before the Asia Cup

Gyanendra Malla, who made his Nepali debut in 2014, participated in 45 T20 games and 37 ODIs throughout the course of a nine-year career. The 32-year-old scored 876 runs in ODIs with seven fifty-scores, and 883 runs at a strike rate of 120.29 with one century and two fifty-scores in T20Is. Let us tell you that the Nepal team qualified for the Asia Cup for the first time and the team will also participate in the ODI Asia Cup starting from August 30.

Earlier this player’s retirement could be a big blow for the team. He led Nepal in 10 one-day internationals, six of which the team won.
