Imran Khan Interrogated in Attock Jail Over Missing Cypher Case

According to media reports on Sunday. Imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan admitted misplacing a confidential diplomatic cable while interrogated by Pakistan’s top investigative agency. The Attock Jail in a case filed under the Official Secrets Act for wrongful use of the classified document.

Khan, 70, is presently serving a three-year prison sentence in a corruption case after sentenced by a court earlier this month.

According to media sources. The Federal Investigation Agency’s counter-terrorism branch (CTW) paid a visit to the former Prime Minister in jail on Saturday.

According to FIA sources, a six-member joint investigation team led by FIA Deputy Director Ayaz Khan met Khan in the office of the deputy superintendent of the Attock Jail. Interrogated him for more than an hour, according to the Dawn daily.

During interrogation, Khan acknowledged to losing the cypher, stating he couldn’t remember where he stored it. According to The News newspaper. Khan further disputed that the diplomatic cable was the paper. He displayed as proof of the plot at a public gathering last year, just days before his administration deposed.

“The paper I gestured in public were Cabinet meeting minutes, not cypher,” Khan was reported as saying in the tabloid.

Following an inquiry, the investigative agency launched a charge against Khan and PTI vice chairman. Former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi after determining their purposeful involvement in abusing the cypher and its misplacement.

The participation of the former Prime Minister’s principal secretary, Azam Khan, ex-Planning Minister Asad Umar, and other colleagues implicated will also determined throughout the probe. According to the FIR.
