So today we have brought you the recipe of desi momos. This dish is called ‘Pher’ and is prepared differently in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and regions of South India. Today we bring you the easiest way of it.

Material

Mainly two materials are used in this. Wheat flour- 2 bowls and gram dal- 1.25 bowls. You can do this more or less according to the number of members in your family. Add some oil, ginger, garlic, green chillies, green coriander, dry spices (salt, red chilli-coriander powder, turmeric, dry mango powder, asafoetida) and some oil.

Method

Wash gram dal and soak overnight in clean water. Grind it coarsely in the morning without adding water. Now add some flour and salt and mash it. You can also add carom seeds to it if you wish. Knead the flour a little hard and keep it aside for a while. Now add ginger-garlic paste, finely chopped green chillies, green coriander, some red chilli powder as per your taste, coriander powder, turmeric, some dry mango powder and two pinches of asafoetida to the dal. After this, you have to make a perfect cylinder of dough, fill it with this dal mixture, shape it like a gujia and close it from all sides. You can also give it your favorite shape.

Keep a wide vessel aside to heat water and add a tablespoon of oil. When the water starts boiling, drop these stuffed balls into the water. Now reduce the gas flame and boil it for about 15 minutes. Hot fare is ready for you. Make curry of your taste with this. If you eat it with curry, the taste of the curry will increase four times. This can also be served with chutney or favorite chutney. The remaining ‘fare’ can also be cut into pieces and fried the next day. Here you can also adopt another method. If you don’t want to boil it in water, you can also steam it.

As we said, it is made in different ways in different places. Many people use rice flour instead of wheat flour. At the same time, along with gram dal, you can also add any other dal of your choice. But this dish is very tasty and full of health. No oil is used in this and not many spices are used. If it is left over, it can be fried with mustard, cumin seeds and curry leaves to make a new snack.
