Jaya Verma Sinha took charge as the new Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Railway Board (Ministry of Rail) at Rail Bhawan on Friday. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Jaya Vermaa Sinha. Jaya Verma Sinha is the first woman to be appointe as Railway Board Chairperson and CEO in this top post of Indian Railways.
The responsibility of many departments has been handled in the railways
Earlier, Jaya Verma Sinha served as Member (Operations and Business Development) in the Railway Board. Ms. Sinha has also managed overall transportation of freight and passenger services in Indian Railways. Jaya Verma Sinha joined the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) in 1988.

In his career spanning over 35 years in Indian Railways, he has held various important posts like Member (Operations and Business Development), Additional Member, Traffic Transport, Railway Board. He has worked in various fields including operational, commercial, IT and vigilance.

She is also the first woman to be appointe as Principal Chief Operating Manager of South-Eastern Railway. He also serve as Railway Advisor to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, Bangladesh, during his tenure the famous Maitri Express from Kolkata to Dhaka was inaugurate. Jya Sinha is an alumnus of Allahabad University and has a keen interest in photography.
