Israel’s Prime Minister Promises a Game-Changing Response to Hamas Attack

Speaking to mayors of southern border towns affected by the assault that started on Saturday, Israel’s prime leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, said that the country’s reaction to the unprecedented surprise onslaught by Hamas from the Gaza Strip will “change the Middle East.” Additionally, Benjamin Netanyahu advised Gazan citizens to avoid any Hamas locations, which he promised to “turn to rubble.”

Iran and Hezbollah applauded the Hamas strike, raising tensions in the Middle East, while Tehran denied any involvement. In addition to promising “rock solid” support for Israel, the US has also stated that it will send supplies to the country and reroute an aircraft carrier group to the eastern Mediterranean. More than 700 people have died in Israel, according to authorities, and Tel Aviv has responded by repeatedly attacking Gaza, where at least 560 people have died, according to health officials.

One day after formally declaring war, Israel’s military stepped up its shelling of Gaza while attempting to subdue Hamas fighters in southern towns. Israel authorized by the declaration of war to take “significant military steps” against Hamas, and as a result, the army called up some 300,000 reservists.

According to Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, he has ordered a “complete siege” on Gaza, which entails cutting off the territory’s electricity and preventing the entry of food and fuel. The declaration followed the Israeli military’s claim that it had reclaimed “control” over border villages that Hamas had seized. Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, the top military spokesperson, reported a few isolated events but no ongoing combat while issuing a warning that there could still be militants in the region and that authorities were conducting searches.
