India vs New Zealand World Cup 2023 Highlights: India beats New Zealand in World Cup after two decades, claim top spot

India vs New Zealand ICC ODI World Cup 2023: India vs New Zealand latest points table update and team standings of the ongoing 50-over cricket World Cup in India. The 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup began on October 5 with a match between defending champion England and 2019 losing finalist New Zealand in Ahmedabad.

Virat Kohli scored 95 runs off 104 balls, while India skipper Rohit Sharma hit 46 runs off 40 balls. Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and Shubman Gill scored 33, 27, and 26 runs respectively.

On the bowling front, Mohammed Shami gave a stellar performance and clinched five wickets. Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj took one wicket each.

India played its first match in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia and secured a six-wicket victory. It then locked horns with Afghanistan and won by eight wickets. On October 14, the Men in Blue faced Pakistan and registered a seven-wicket win. It also emerged victorious against Bangladesh by seven wickets. Team India will play their next match against the defending champions, England, on October 29 at Ekana Sports City in Lucknow.

At one point, it looked like Rachin Ravindra would get to his second hundred but he fell to Mohammed Shami for 75 off 87 balls. The onus fell on Mitchell to get New Zealand to a competitive total; he took his time to move from 93 to hundred and then picked up the pace but by then, Mohammed Shami was unstoppable. Thanks to his efforts and Siraj’s and Bumrah’s, New Zealand managed only 54 runs in their last 10 overs.
