Sholay, released in 1975, is one of the most iconic films of Hindi cinema. Fifty years have passed since the film hit the big screen, but its craze still exists. Fans have forgotten neither Jai-Veeru nor Gabbar-Thakur. In the trend of sequel films, people now want to see Sholay 2. But a director says that a sequel to Sholay can never be made.

This director is none other than Ram Gopal Varma, famous for his outspoken style. Ram Gopal Varma, who has directed films like Satya, Rangeela, and Sarkar, has said something big about the film Sholay directed by Ramesh Sippy. He says that Sholay 2 will never be made.
Ram Gopal Varma has revealed in Komal Nahta’s Game Changer podcast that GP Sippy’s grandson came to him to pitch for Sholay’s sequel. He said, “I had an idea, and it was also a trigger point because Sasha Sippy, GP Sippy’s grandson, first called me and said that his father wanted to make it. So he has the idea of making Sholay’s sequel.
Ram Gopal Varma further said, “This man told me the story. After the song Mehbooba Mehbooba, Gabbar Singh and Helen have a child, who is Junior Gabbar. So Junior Gabbar takes revenge for his father. Then, Veeru and Basanti keep coming to meet Radha. Junior Gabbar kidnaps Basanti. He also wants Jackie Chan in this. I said, ‘What?’ Sholay is the biggest brand in India and Jackie Chan is the biggest brand of Asia. Imagine two big brands coming together. But it didn’t happen.”
